RE: Palmetto State Park, Texas

If you find that you don't care for Palmetto, there is an RV park on the river at Luling(just a few miles north of Palmetto) or there is Lakewood recreation area on the Guadalupe River, a few miles South of Palmetto. I know that Lakewood has plenty of room for big rigs and it is a short drive up to Palmetto if you should want to that.

RE: I-10 Through Houston

I drive Houston traffic everyday and it is no different than any large city. If it were me, I would take it right up the gut I-10 to 59. Pay attention to the signs when you get close to downtown. If you are unsure of this route, I-10 to 610 s. to 59 is not too bad either.
This is the best way. Just get in a middle lane and let the rest fight it out. Most folks in Houston have a loud horn and only one finger, you will hear and see them all.:B

RE: Camping in Houston

Riverbend on Agnes Road in Richmond might have some spaces. It is NOT a nice, shaded park. It is just a large open spot with lots of spaces. If you want more info, let me know(cause I'm not looking a map right now).

RE: ANYONE EVER STAY ON SOUTH PADRE ISLAND BEACH

I also would think long and hard before I stayed ON THE BEACH. Got a buddy that works part time for an RV dealer in the RGV. He said they had to pick up a 5er that had been on SPI for about a year. They had to use a torch to cut off the rear stabilizer jacks they were rusted so bad.
If you don't care about your rig...go ahead, but I sure wouldn't do it.
I totally agree. I live down here and do NOT take our trailer to the beach. It just ain't worth it, doubt if it will ever make to Rockport(60 miles).

Lid Stays

Need a little help. I have a Cougar 5er and the lid stays(those plastic things that hold the cabinet lids up) are begining to break on me. Does anyone know where I can find a source for those things? I looked in "lid stays" and must have looked at jillion of them and still did not find what I wanted. Any help would be appreciated. I am hoping to find a metal lid stay. Thanks.

RE: Go Camping @ Garner State Park - Texas

I think I would take Loop 1604(Anderson Loop) off I-35 around to hiway 90, then
go west. 1604 will be busy till you get to I-10, but you are used to that in Austin.

RE: RVG how big is it ??

The RGV is actually considered the lower 4 counties of Texas, Willacy (North), Cameron, Hidalgo and Starr along the river. The most populated portion is from LaJoya/Mission south to Brownsville. Starr county is mostly ranches and Willacy County is mostly farms. The "real" RGV stretches from Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico, but the most well known part is the lower RGV.

RE: Whose on the road headed to the RGV?

Y'all better hurry. My workplace is on H59(South of Victoria) and I have seen a lot of rvs heading south. Today, I saw at least a dozen. Doesn't sound like much but the traffic is building. Sure gives me the urge to go that way BUT!!!!!:D

RE: Need campground suggestion for Ft. Stockton to El Paso area

If you don't make Ft Stockton, there is a good overnighter about 6 miles east of Ozona at a truck stop. It is about 1/4 mile from the truck traffic so noise is not problem.
